Sacraments
Baptism
-
If
you would like to plan for the Baptism of your infant or
preschool child, please call the Parish Office at 825-8626 to
fill out a Baptism Request. Parents must attend a preparation
class prior to the Baptism. These classes are held at 7:00
P.M. on the 2nd Tuesday, and the 4th
Thursday of the month in the Living Room of the Parish Activity
Center. Deacon Walt will call you to schedule your preparation
class and Baptism Date.
Baptisms may be scheduled to take place at certain Sunday
liturgies throughout the year, or at 1:00 P.M. on the 2nd
and 4th Sundays of the month.

First Eucharist, First Reconciliation and Confirmation
- Parents
are supported as the primary religious educators of their
children and are given opportunities along with their children
preparing for sacraments to participate in faith formation
classes, as well as mini-retreats with their children. Children
preparing to receive first sacraments must participate in two
years of religious instruction prior to reception as a way of
making sure that these students have sufficient background.
Since we consolidated our school in 2006 we have begun preparing
for sacraments outside of the classroom. The parish is
responsible for the sacramental life of its members. Contact

Marriage
-
Couples
preparing for marriage are asked to contact the Pastor a minimum of six
months before their wedding. Several meetings are required with the
Pastor and a couple from our Marriage Ministry Team. Plans for the
Liturgy and music are done in association with the Pastor and Music
Director.
Becoming Catholic
Any adult wishing to receive the sacraments of Baptism,
Confirmation, or First Communion is invited to call our Pastoral
Associate, Kathy Klich, to explore our R.C.I.A. Process – The
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults:
-
The Rite of
Christian Initiation of Adults is open to all persons interested
in learning more about Jesus Christ and exploring the
possibility of becoming a member of the Catholic Church.
-
A person can
enter the process at any time throughout the year. Just call
when you are ready to start exploring the faith.
There is no
obligation to become Catholic.
-
Adults who
decide to become Catholic are initiated into the Church through
the Sacraments of Baptism (if not previously Baptized),
Confirmation and First Eucharist. The Catholic Church respects
the Baptisms of other Christian denominations and does not
Baptize a second time.
-
Beginning
Phase:
Inquiry Sessions meet the first and third Sunday
mornings of the month at 10:05 A.M. in the Parish
Activity Center (after the 9 AM Mass).
-
Continued
Phase:
Catechumenate Sessions meet every Sunday at 10:05 A.M.
in the Parish Activity Center (after the 9 AM Mass).
-
The R.C.I.A
also provides a wonderful opportunity for parishioners who wish
to grow in their faith by walking with the Candidates through
this process of adult education in our faith.
-
Volunteers are
always needed to be Sponsors for the Candidates, to provide
Hospitality, and for Scripture and Faith Sharing.
-
In the Rituals
done at Mass, all parishioners are involved as witnesses of
faith and prayer for those preparing for membership in our faith
community.
-
Please contact
Kathy Klich to volunteer, or to come to learn more about your
faith.
Becoming Catholic – for children age 7 and
older.
-
If a child
wishes to become Catholic and receive the Sacraments of Baptism,
First Communion, or Confirmation, they will receive their
preparation through the R.C.I.A. for Children – a process
similar to the Adult Formation.
-
Please contact
our Pastoral Associate, Kathy Klich, to arrange the necessary
preparation.
Anointing of the sick
- This sacrament is available to
your family member of any age who is very ill, chronically ill,
or anticipating surgery. Family members are encouraged to
celebrate the sacrament together with the person receiving the
special anointing. It is especially appropriate to receive
the sacrament during weekday morning mass or after a weekend
mass so the gathered "church" can surround you with prayer for
your healing, but other times can also be arranged.
